
MUMBAI, Jan 12: Hindustan Motors Ltd, the flagship of the GP Birla-CK Birla group, will be launching three new versions of its Ambassador car, a rural transport vehicle RTV and the Mitsubishi Lancer this year. According to a company release, all these will be launched over the year with the Mitsubishi Lancer and the RTV rolling out by July this year. The three versions of the Ambassador will target different niche markets 8211; the CNG with gasoline option to address pollution, the bullet proof version for the security conscious and the Isuzu 2.0 litre diesel for the hilly regions.
quot;These new models along with the standard Ambassador, the Contessa and the Trekker are designed to fulfill niche requirements for automobiles throughout India,quot; said R Santhanam, executive vice president, Hindustan Motors Ltd in a company release. With the planned launch of more models, the company has also divided its product range into three distinct categories 8212; the RTV and Trekker targetted at the rural and small town markets,the Ambassador and the Contessa for urban use and the Lancer for the luxury market.
