Kerala CM A.K. Antony, whose remarks on minorities created a controversy, has found an ally in noted historian A. Sreedhara Menon who has urged the people of the state to listen to their CM and support his stand. In a statement on Wednesday, Menon said Antony ‘‘must have taken the stand in public interest after considering the issue in all its aspects. He has enhanced his stature by his honest statement in regard to the pressure tactics being resorted to by organised minorities to get their demands conceded and has won the hearts of the liberal and enlightened sections of people.’’‘‘However, one is dismayed by the statement of KPCC president K. Muraleedharan that the Muslim League has demanded only its legitimate rights. He might have made this statement in self-interest, for as the MP representing Kozhikode, the support of the Muslim community is crucial for him to win the next election from there,’’ Menon said.
