Hike in conveyance deed registration: residents take out protest march

Hundreds of Mohali residents took out a rally on Wednesday to protest the decision of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority GMADA and the district administration to hike the registration rate of conveyance deeds of plots.

Hundreds of Mohali residents took out a rally on Wednesday to protest the decision of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority GMADA and the district administration to hike the registration rate of conveyance deeds of plots .

Under the banner of Joint Action Committee JAC of all Residents8217; Welfare Associations in Mohali, the residents launched a mass public protest against what they termed as an 8216;arbitrary8217; decision to register the conveyance deeds of plots at the prevailing collector rates instead of their actual allotment price.

In a press release, the JAC general secretary Baljeet Singh Kumbra said that under the first phase of the agitation, the protesters laid siege at the GMADA and Deputy Commissioner8217;s offices before walking from GMADA office in Sector 62 to the DC office in Phase I.

Citing the system being followed in Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other neighbouring states, where the conveyance deeds of the plots were registered at the actual allotment price, the JAC urged the state government to withdraw the new order and revoke the system of registration at actual allotment rates.
