Scottsdale USA, March 12: Lleyton Hewitt moved into his third ATP final in three months, beating Spain8217;s Juan Carlos Ferrero here on Saturday to book a final date with Britain8217;s Tim Henman.
Henman, seeded fifth, dominated Spain8217;s Albert Costa 6-3, 6-3 duplicating his final appearance from last month8217;s indoors in Rotterdam.
Hewitt, the sixth seed, holds the best ATP match record so far in 2000, compiling a 19-1 mark. His only loss came to Swede Magnus Norman in the fourth round of the Australian Open.
Easy for Hingis
INDIAN WELLS: World No 1 Martina Hingis beat Amy Frazier 6-3, 6-3 to reach the third round in the masters series event here on Saturday while Jennifer Capriati was ousted in her first match.
Hingis needed four set points to take the first set from her American foe.
Then the 19-year-old Swiss star overpowered on her way to victory at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Capriati, who had turned the corner on her career with a semi-final performance at the Australian Open, came up flat against Cara Black of Zimbabwe, crashing out 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
The rest of the women8217;s programme was packed with big names, including holder Serena Williams, playing for the third round against American compatriot Alexandra Stevenson, a shock Wimbledon semi-finalist who has done little since.
Two more seeds joined Capriati on the sidelines after second-round upsets.
Belgian teenager Kim Clijsters benefited as French 10th seed Amelie Mauresmo had to quit with lower backpain trailing 0-3. Russian Elena Dementieva knocked out 14th-seeded German Anke Huber 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
There was a win for eighth seed Anna Kournikova, who advanced past Denise Chladkova of the Czech Republic 7-5, 6-2.
