Held guilty in inquiry, head constable kills self

In his suicide note, which the police recovered near his body, Sukhbir alleged he was taking the extreme step after Mam Chand, a CID Inspector in Hissar, wrongly held him guilty in a departmental inquiry. Following this, he had been demoted from an Assistant Sub-Inspector ASI to a head constable in the Haryana Police. Aggrieved, he decided to kill himself.

Har Shai Sharma, Station House Officer, Sector 3 police station, said the note will be sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory for confirmation of handwriting and the further course of action will be decided thereafter.

The police have, meanwhile, begun investigations under Section 174 CRPC. Sukhbir is survived by his wife and two sons.
