Headless human skeleton found in Girnar forest

The Junagadh police found a headless human skeleton hanging from a tree inside the Girnar forest on Tuesday.

The skeleton was sent to Jamnagar for forensic examination On Wednesday.

According to the Junagadh taluka police, the prima facie evidence suggests a suicide angle.

The police rushed to the spot after a forest beat guard reported the matter. The skeleton was found hanging from a tree with a plastic rope. The site is located about two kilometres from the first peak of Girnar mountains. The person is yet to be identified.

The police have said that the skull might have separated from the body and fallen into a deep ditch adjacent to the tree.

Head Constable Bhanubhai Patel said: 8220;We have recovered clothes and a water bottle from the spot. Since only the skeleton was found, the postmortem could not be done here. It has been sent to Jamnagar for a detailed clinical and forensic examination.8221;

He added: 8220;The exact cause of death can be found only after we receive the autopsy report. At present, we have registered a case of accidental death and investigations are on.8221;
