
The Orissa High Court on Tuesday directed the Rajasthan Government not to arrest Orissa DGP Home Guards Bidya Bhushan Mohanty till February 5 in the case registered against him.
Mohanty had moved an anticipatory bail application in the High Court on Friday, apprehending arrest by the Rajasthan Police following the disappearance of his son Bittihotra Mohanty, a rape convict, who had jumped parole after being released from the Jaipur jail on November 20. An FIR had been filed against the DGP for 8220;shielding8221; his son.
The court also directed the Rajasthan Government to submit the case diary and investigation documents pertaining to the case before January 31. Rajasthan Home Minister G C Kataria had said on Monday that police from the state would soon arrest the DGP.
Mohanty8217;s counsel Debasis Panda argued that in their opinion, it was reasonably apprehended that the petitioner might be arrested under sections 130, 120 and 216 of the IPC. But all these sections were not applicable against Mohanty, he said stating the Rajasthan Police had already searched his house .
