
CHANDIGARH, July 13: The Haryana Government has reconstituted the State Planning Board to assess the level of development in important sectors in the state.
The Chief Minister will be the chairman of the board and Kailash Chand Sharma will remain deputy chairman.
The Finance and Planning Minister, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Financial Commissioners and Secretaries of planning, finance, industries and social welfare departments will be its official members. The Commissioners and Secretaries of development and panchayat and agriculture departments will also be members of the board.
I. D. Swami, former Karnal MP, S. K. Mishra, IAS retd, Sahib Singh Saini, former MLA, and Kaka Jatinder Singh will be its non-official members. Officer on Special Duty, Planning Board, will act as member-secretary of the board.
The board will assess financial, manpower and material resources and organisational and institutional capabilities, determine priorities for the state in light of overall national objectives, and formulate a long-term plan for the most effective and balanced utilisation of state resources.
It will also assist the state government to formulate the five year plan and annual plans and suggest policies and programmes for removing imbalances in various regions in the state. The board will assist in formulating district plans and area plans and review implementation of plan projects and other development schemes.
Other functions of the board include making a critical appraisal of on-going programmes to find out whether they need to be continued, suggest ways to tackle the unemployment problem, and advise on those matters connected with economic development that are assigned by the state government.
