NEW DELHI, January 1: On the basis of their performance in Group-I and Group-II, Haryana annexed the overall championship of the 23rd All-India Rural Sports meet which concluded at Rohtak yesterday.

Haryana boys and girls teams emerged champions in kabaddi. In the mark and neco fight between Haryana and Punjab girls, Haryana outclassed Punjab 35-32 while Haryana boys defeated Delhi 29-25. Uttar Pradesh boys finished third beating Punjab 52-36 whereas Delhi remained third in the girls section defeating Maharashtra 40-20.

Haryana girls also clinched the hockey title beating Punjab in the final. The match ended goalless in the stipulated time and was decided with the tie-breaker where Haryana girls won 3-2. Orrisa finished third beating Madhya Pradesh 4-0.

Punjab won the boys hockey title routing Haryana 3-0, while Orissa finished third defeating Delhi 2-1.
