
CHANDIGARH, AUG 3: Twenty three-year-old winger Harbhajan Singh was today named to replace the injured star striker Baljit Singh Dhillon for the forthcoming five-Test series hockey series against South Africa, commencing at Johannesburg from August 13, according to reports reaching here.
The Border Security Force left flank forward represented the country in the last Junior World Cup at Milton Keynes in England in 1997, where India finished runners-up to Australia. This was India8217;s best performance ever in the Junior World Cup.
Harbhajan made the senior ranks last year when he played against Pakistan in the home and away series. He was again in the national squad this year in the Indo-Pak Test series.
The experienced forward also captained the Indian second string in the four nation Akhbar-al-Yom tournament at Cairo in February where India had finished second to Egypt, ahead of Canada and Kenya.
