The Australian Federal Police AFP is expected to provide an uncensored version of its submission to a public inquiry regarding Indian doctor Mohamed Haneef8217;s bungled case.
8220;AFP was compiling a public version of its submission that lacked sensitive information provided to them by the London Metropolitan Police Service,8221; said a Clarke inquiry spokesperson.
On Tuesday, AFP declined to clarify the apparent contradiction in remarks made by Commissioner Keelty.
Keelty had said the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation ASIO8212; which repeatedly advised that Haneef was not a threat8212; did not have access to AFP8217;s information when it made its assessment. Moments later, Keelty said ASIO had 8220;full access to the material the AFP has8221;.
Keelty said the AFP wanted to release its submission but the authority to publish it rested with the British police. On Tuesday, London Metropolitan Police spokesperson said British authorities were concerned that the information could 8220;potentially compromise the integrity of those proceedings8221; and the trial of two men accused of involvement in the British attacks.
