Gymkhana Races

MUMBAI, April 30: The Amateur Riders8217; Club ARC will be organising seven Gymkhana race days commencing from May 2-15, 1998 at the Mhalakshmi Race Course. The other days of racing will be 3, 7, 10, 11 and 14.

Ashwin Mehta, chairman, Gymkhana Races Sub-Committee of ARC informed mediapersons on Wednesday that about 150 contenders will participate in the event. Among them there will be 13 race horses from lower classes who have raced during the just concluded Mumbai season. He also informed that several establishments have agreed to sponsor an entire race day. Apart from the betting for win, place and various pools with the tote, there will be bookmakers operating in the first enclosure. Ten understudy apprentices who joined the ARC school for riders in 1997 will be making their debut.
