Gunalan optimistic

NEW DELHI, Aug 2: THE Asian Badminton Confederation ABC secretary general, Punch Gunalan, is confident of a compromise between the Badminton Federation of India BAI and Prakash Padukone8217;s Indian Badminton Confederation IBC after he meets both parties, tomorrow.

Addressing newsmen at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, the venue of the on-going Air India Open Major Ranking Badminton Tournament, Gunalan said that he hopes to end speculation and all sorts of stories8217; coming up in the media, very soon. 8220;To my mind, the problem is very small. We have something up our sleeves to solve it, but I won8217;t reveal it now. But let me tell you, there is no question of giving recognition to another body. We recognise only the IBC,8221; he clarified.

Gunalan, who is also the vice-pesident of the International Badminton Federation IBF, is here in his official capacity as IBF observer and will be addressing the BAI executive meeting, tomorrow. Later, he will fly to Madras where he is slated to meet Prakash Padukone.
