Greg Chappell, it seems, has admitted fearing for his safety after the side lost to minnows Bangladesh, if a newspaper report is to be believed.
Though not quoted on this, Chappell, who was in a Brisbane motel last night, seemingly admitted having security fears after the twin incidents of India8217;s shocking defeat to Bangladesh and the murder of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, The Herald Sun reported today.
The interview also indicated that the BCCI8217;s bid to rope in the former Australian captain as a consultant for the National Cricket Academy NCA may go in vain and Chappell might join the Australian Cricket Academy ACA as its head coach.
According to reports, Chappell is a clear favourite to succeed Tim Nielsen, who leaves the job to take over the Australian team8217;s reins from John Buchanan after the World Cup. Chappell, however, said: 8220;I am not making decisions yet but after a while I will look at the options.8221;
Meanwhile, he asserted that his troubled tenure with the Indian team has not turned him off coaching. 8220;I don8217;t feel cheesed off, not at all,8221; he said.
He also criticised the Indian media for exaggerating his medical check-up. 8220;It was just a minor thing that they obviously made into something bigger. The health is fine, there is no drama other than what the media made of it. I made sure I was in good health to fly back to Australia,8221; Chappell said.
Now, a Chappell hate-site
Kolkata: Call it the darker side of obsessive cricket fanaticism, or an attempt at keeping Indian cricket8217;s pot of controversies boiling, now here8217;s a website firegregchappell.com where you can vent your anger on Greg Chappell. The website lampooning Chappell comes a year after a Mumbai-based online site maker sent ripples across the country with the now-famous wehatesourav.com, a hate campaign attacking Sourav Ganguly. 8212;Nadim Siraj
