SANGRUR, Aug 3: Former Chief Minister and leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly today charged the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal- Bharatiya Janata Party SAD-BJP alliance with failure on all fronts in the state, especially in containing the prices and maintaining law and order.

Bhattal in an interview with this correspondent at her Dehra residence, about 55 km from here, said that the rule of the coalition has failed to contain skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and vegetables and the the common man was finding it hard to make two ends meet.

Coming down heavily on the alliance, she said that undeclared power cuts and erratic power supply and the menace of Kale Kachhe Wale gang was forcing the people in the state to spend sleepless nights.

Alleging that there was no such thing as rule of law in the state, she added that the reported custodial deaths in the state were only the pointer to the fact that the police with the backing of their political masters were dictating terms in the state.

Bhattal said that all pending demands of the state, including Chandigarh, river waters, setting up of a 12,000 crore petroleum plant in Bathinda and an international airport in Amritsar had been hanging fire. She was also critical of the Bharatiya Janata Party led government at Centre and charged that wrong handling of international affairs had resulted in internationalising the Kashmir issue.

She also held it responsible for for the massacres of the innocents in the Jammu and Kashmir which, she said, had resulted in exodus of people from the Valley. The former Pradesh Congress Committee chief however advocated strong action against Pakistan for its resorting to unprovoked firing during the last couple of days.
