Govt accepts recommendations

VADODARA, April 29: The State Government on Thursday issued a circular accepting the Fifth Pay Commission8217;s recommendations for revision in the salaries of University and College teachers in Gujarat.

According to highly placed sources, the State Government will have to bear an annual additional burden of Rs 50 lakh. The benefits will come into retrospective effect from April 1, 1996. Sources said with the acceptance of the report, the salary grade of professors/readers which is now at Rs 3,700-5,700 will rise to Rs 12,000-18,300.
