CHANDIGARH, May 20: Most of the encounters, on the second day of the Chandigarh junior basketball championship being played at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, proved to be one-sided affairs.

In the boys group, in a low scoring match, Government Model Senior Secondary School-16 defeated St Soldier International School, Sector 28, 19-12. Half time score was 10-6, in favour of GMSSS-16.

Abhishek and Amandeep sunk 8 and 6 points respectively for the winners. Ajay Sood 6 was the main scorer for the St Soldier School.

In another one-sided match YCC Club thrashed St John8217;s High School, Sector 26, 40-15.

Tejpratap, who top scored with 13 points, was the main architect of the teams victory in the contest today. He combined well with Jagteshwar 7, and the duo were the main wrecker of the rival defense. Pardeep also contributed 6 points to the total.

St John8217;s team, besides coordination also lacked sharp shooter. The players even missed easy baskets, which is evident from the fact they could score eight points it the first and seven in the second session.

In another lackluster contest, DAV School, Sector 8 scored a 51-7 victory over minnows DAV Model School-15. The eventual winners led by 19 points at the break 26-7.

Harjot and Amrish scored 20 and 14 points respectively for DAV School-8. Parveen 3 and Rohit 2 scored for losers.

The contest in the girls group also lacked keen tussle. Government Model High School-26 beat Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, 21-1. Such was the plight of the teams that the total points on the scoreboard, in the first session was only four points 3-1. In the second half, however, GNP-36 players unable to move their score while GMHS-26 managed to increase the margin. Ranjeeta got 10 points while Sarabjeet and Geeta netted 4 points each for the winners. Navjeet scored the solitary point for GNP-36.
