
Rain frustrates India A again
DEVENTER HOLLAND: India A8217; cricket team8217;s opening three-day fixture against Denmark ended on a frustrating note with the final day8217;s play also being washed out due to incessant downpour yesterday.
Two full days were lost in the tie after no play was possible on the second day also. India A8217; had reduced their lightweight rivals to 41 for five when rain forced them indoors after lunch on the opening day which also saw a delayed start due to wet conditions.
The touring will take on Denmark in the first of two one-day ties tomorrow at the same venue after today8217;s rest day.
Disciplinary action for Chris Lewis
LEICESTER: Leicestershire confirmed they will discipline Chris Lewis for his abusive criticism of the England selectors.
Lewis was left out of England8217;s 37-man provisional World Cup squad after playing in two one-day matches against South Africa earlier this season.
The 30-year-old Lewis, skipper of Leicestershire in his second spell with thecounty, said the squad was not picked on quot;cricketing abilityquot; and used abusive language in describing the selectors.
Dutch FA rules De Boers bound to Ajax
AMSTERDAM: The Dutch Football Association KNVB has ruled that brothers Frank and Ronald de Boer should abide by the contracts they signed with Ajax Amsterdam and remain with the club. The twins signed contracts last year to stay in Amsterdam until 2004, but both are adamant they want to leave.
