
Greene, Boldon taciturn on records
NEW YORK: World champions Maurice Greene and Ato Boldon have decided for the time being to abandon predictions of a world 100 metres record.
Greene, the world 100 metres champion and Boldon, the 200 gold medallist, meet Canada8217;s current world record holder Donovan Bailey at the Goodwill Games on Tuesday. The four-day athletics competition starts on the opening day of the multi-event competition tomorrow.
The Californian training partners have made regular world record predictions this season, so far without a result.
The men8217;s and women8217;s 100 metres are the elite events of the athletics competition at the 15-day Games with 40,000 about Rs 16.8 lakhs first-place money on offer and 100,000 about Rs 42 lakhs on the line for a world record.
Pakistan, Malaysia reign supreme
KUALA LUMPUR: Favourites Pakistan retained the Asian Squash Championships men8217;s team title by beating Malaysia 2-1 in the final today. But Pakistan had to struggle for victoryto maintain their record of winning the men8217;s team event in every tournament since the championships started in 1981.
In the women8217;s team final, defending champions Malaysia, led by new Asian champion Nicol David, thrashed Singapore 3-0.
