
Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla on Wednesday accused the Centre and Rajasthan Government of adopting 8216;time buying tactics8217; on the community8217;s demand for ST status.
8220;The Prime Minister8217;s Office by referring the issue to the Law Ministry is part of the time-buying tactics adopted by the Central and Rajasthan governments,8221; Bainsla said.
He was responding to questions on the PMO8217;s decision to refer to the Law Ministry the letter of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje seeking a separate quota for Gujjars.
The Gujjar leader said granting ST status for the community would be the 8216;fitting tribute8217; for the people who laid down their lives for the cause during the agitation in 2007 and last weekend.
8220;Only granting ST status for Gujjars will end the agitation,8221; he said.
Bainsla asked the Rajasthan Government to send a 8216;clear and factual8217; report to the Centre on the community8217;s demand.
