
SHIMLA, Feb 17: The Congress high command has inducted 14 women members in the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee HPCC.
Anita Verma, a former MLA from Hamirpur, has been made vice-president, while the appointment of Kuldeep Rathore as secretary, has also been approved by party president Sonia Gandhi.
Apart from this, the membership of Kishori Lal has also been okayed by the Congress chief. Kishori Lal belongs to Baijnath, which earlier had no representation in the PCC executive.
The wife of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is among those who had been nominated by the party president. A sitting MLA, Krishna Mohini and INTUC President Kanta Sood have also been included in the PCC executive.
Others who have been inducted in the PCC executive are: Anita Verma Hamirpur, Manbhari Kangra, Nirmala Devi Solan, Anita Thakur Chamba, Durga Bhardwaj Solan, Chander Abha Kullu, Krishna Devi Una, Asha Deevan Dharamsala, Padma Sharma Sundernagar and Usha Malhotra Una.
With this, the first phase of revamping the state Congress has been completed. Rival camps in the PCC have been lobbying in the AICC for the revamp of the Pradesh Congress for a long time.
Meanwhile, president of Ex-servicemen Congress, Col. retd S.C. Sharma, has appointed Capt. retd J.L. Manta as president of Ex-servicemen Congress for Shimla district.
