
SURAT, Oct 14: Acting swiftly, the Limbayat police on Thursday arrested four people, who hired an autorickshaw in the Limbayat area at around midnight on Wednesday and looted the driver of cash, electronic assessories and other items. They will be produced before a magistrate on Friday evening.
According to the police, the accused 8212; all residing at Limbayat 8212; hired an autorickshaw from Sabras Hotel in station area stating that they wanted to go to Limbayat. However, as the vehicle reached the cemetery at Limbayat at around midnight, they beat the driver Mangilal Kasturji Mahiyar and, after injuring him with a knife, fled with Rs 300 in cash, a battery worth Rs 1500, the rickshaw rear view mirror, the electronic horn, a wrist watch and a tape recorder fitted to the vehicle, besides damaging the autorickshaw badly.
But based on the description of the accused, the police nabbed all four in the evening and recovered the goods. None of the accused have any past criminal record.
Those arrested have been identified as Shaikh Afzal Shaikh Allauddin 18 residing at Rattanjunagar near Jungleshah Bawa Dargah, Limbayat, Shafique alias Shafiyo Najmuddin Shaikh 18 of galli no 3, Batrisi Chawl, Shastrinagar, Limbayat, Deepak Sahebrao Besane 18 of Rel Rahat Colony, Limbayat and Mohammed Sarfraz alias Maanju Abdul Patel of Kharpura Mohalla Limbayat.
