
BARIPADA, FEB 19: A 23-year-old foreigner from Luxemburg allegedly committed suicide in ahotel here on Friday night.
Police said Porou Sebastian Dominique Aarogi broke a tubelight and pierced apiece of the broken glass into his abdomen. He was a student of anthropologyfrom Luxembourg and had reached Baripada on February 13, sources added.
Getting no response despite repeatedly knocking on his door, the staff ofShibapriya Hotel, where Aarogi was staying, broke the door open and foundhim bleeding profusely in the bathroom.
He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where he succumbed tohis injuries. Sources revealed that the deceased had left a suicide notestating that his mortal remains be handed over to the church for the lastrites. He had also left a note addressed to his mother in French.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem. Investigation is on.
Aarogi come to Orissa in last December and while proceeding from Konark toBaripada on his way to the Similipal National Park in Mayaurbhanj district,he was robbed of his belongings which included Euro dollars, Indiancurrency, a camera and visa by the driver of the vehicle and his touristguide on December 31 last.
Aarogi was later rescued in an unconscious condition by some villagers nearKrushnachandrapur on National Highway No 5, about 15 km from here. The nextday, he lodged an FIR in Baripada town police station in connection with the robbery.
