The food page of The Indian Express Gourmet8217; celebrated its first anniversary by cooking up a storm all over the city. The food fiesta kicked off at 7 pm at Flavours, the Ambassador8217;s new, hip and happening restaurant. There the city8217;s best-known foodies congregated to whet their appetites with some hors d8217;oeuvers and cocktails. They were also invited to make a salad or sandwich from an array of raw ingredients. Their finished platters were judged by pop singer Jasmine Barucha who used her newly-acquired cooking skills to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Among the foodies seen donning a toque and really getting into the gourmet spirit were Rashmi Uday Singh, Karan Grover, Prahlad Kakkar, Nirja Shah, Tarla Dalal, Sheldon Austin whose oriental salad won him a prize, Sanjeev Chowdhury and Anish Trivedi.

But Flavours was just the first stop. Next a whole bunch of invitees were transported in vintage cars and an open top bus to the Guestline Days Inn, in Juhu. Celebrating his first victory, Sheldon dancedalmost all the way to the suburbs in the open-air bus. He was joined by Karan and the two of them danced all night. Once at Guestline, the foodies were finally allowed to put their feet up and enjoy a nice quiet dinner. But given the huge amount of food that had been consumed it was almost impossible to move a muscle.
