The Himachal Pradesh Vigilance Bureau on Thursday lodged an FIR against Subhash Ahluwalia, high profile Principal Private Secretary of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh in an disproportionate assets case.

The FIR has been lodged against Ahluwalia under section 13-1 e of Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly amassing of property disproportionate to known sources of income at the Vigilance police station here, Superintendent of Police of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Anand Pratap Singh told PTI.

After probing into assets of Ahluwalia in Shimla and other parts of the country and accounts in many banks, the Vigilance Bureau had prima facie found him possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and sought permission from home department to prosecute him, the official said.

Ahluwalia8217;s wife Meera is also under scanner of the Vigilance probe but she has not been named in the FIR, sources said, adding that she would be called for questioning whenever required.

The former private secretary is the third person occupying influential position in previous Congress regime of Virbhadra Singh, to have fallen in the state vigilance net.

Earlier, former Horticulture minister Singhi Ram and ex-chairperson of State Education Board B R Rahi were booked by the Bureau in a forged mark-sheet case involving Ram8217;s daughter.

They figured in the BJP8217;s chargesheet highlighting corruption during Virbhadra8217;s regiome submitted to the Governor earlier.
