Gunning for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar all this while, senior JDU leader George Fernandes on Thursday hit out at party president Sharad Yadav by charging him of colluding with the Congress. Fernandes was briefing the media after a meeting of NDA leaders at the residence of former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee.

Asked if they discussed the Congress8217; move for the imposition of President8217;s Rule in Uttar Pradesh, he replied, 8220;This was not an issue for discussion at Thursday8217;s meeting.8221;

After a string of questions, he was asked: 8220;Would you campaign for Mulayam Singh Yadav in UP?8221; To this, Fernandes tried to avoid a categorical reply. 8220;I haven8217;t thought of it yet, there is still time for polls,8221; he said.

When told Sharad Yadav would campaign against Mulayam because he is with Apna Dal, Fernandes responded: 8220;Those who are with the Congress do like this only Congress ke saath jo hain, vo aisa hi karte hain!8221;

Later sources close to Fernandes told The Indian Express that he had not made any off-the-cuff remarks. His stance was in conformity with his life-long politics of anti-Congressism. 8220;How can people in JDU speak the language of the Congress by advocating the dismissal of the Mulayam government?8221; they argued.
