Extortionist held

MUMBAI, November 19: An alleged extortionist was trapped by the anti-extortion cell of the police while making a threatening call to a film personality here today.

According to additional commissioner of police north-western region Y C Pawar, the extortionist, identified as Mahadeo Maruti Dhage, was remanded to police custody by a metropolitan magistrate for further inquiry.

Pawar said the cell had received a complaint that the film personality was being threatened on telephone to give a ransom of Rs one crore.
