PUNE, Oct 24: Two persons who threatened a land dealer and demanded Rs 11 lakh from him by claiming that they belonged to the Arun Gawli gang were nabbed by the Deccan police today.

Rajnikant Shaligaram Pande 22 and Prashan Ashok Mishra 25, both hailing from Bihar, and currently residents of Kalbhornagar Chinchwad, had been threatening a land dealer Vishwas Dattatray Dixit, since last Monday.

The duo who had a mobile phone had been giving threat calls to Dixit claiming they were members of the Arun Gawli gang. The police traced the calls, laid a trap and arrested them at Thergaon near Chinchwad this morning.

According to the police, Dixit and his associate Kulkarni had recently sold land at Swargate. Dixit owed Rs 11 lakh as commission in the land deal to Kulkarni. The duo after learning about the commission to be paid by Dixit, threatened him him and demanded that he pay Rs 11 lakh to them. Later when Dixit refused to pay up, he received several threat calls. He lodged a complaint last Tuesday.
