VADODARA, July 20: The Customs and Central Excise Department has introduced a system of computer-based selective audit which will come as a big relief to assesses. According to Commissioner of Central Excise, S K Bhardwaj, the assesses would not have to maintain voluminous records for routine verification by Central Excise officers once the new system becomes operational.
However, as the new system required greater knowledge of cost and financial accounting and auditing, skills of the Central Excise officials needed to be upgraded.
