
CHANDIGARH, Oct 5: The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, Lt Gen H.B. Kala, today assured ex-servicemen that their problems would be resolved in consultation with the Sainik Welfare Board. He was interacting with retired servicemen settled in Ambala District during his two-day farewell visit to Headquarters, 2 Corps, based at Ambala.
A statement issued here said the major demand put forward by ex-servicemen was the provision of a mobile MI room for those residing in the townships of Barara Narayangarh. The GOC 2 Corps, Lt Gen G.S. Sihota, who was also present on the occasion, said the ex-servicemen should submit their demands and problems to the Corps Headquarters, which would take up the matter with the respective agencies.
Lt Gen Kala, who is scheduled to take over as GOC-in-C of the Shimla-based Army Training Command on October 15, also attended a band concert presented by the 14 Gurkha Training Centre Band, followed by a social get-together with officers.
