Ex-MP held from Patna station

Former MP Anand Mohan was arrested today amidst drama from Patna railway station and taken to Saharsa jail after he reached here from Dehra Dun in the evening. Policemen escorting him were also taken into custody for dereliction of duty.

There was high drama at the railway station when Anand Mohan tried to avoid arrest, arguing that he was under judicial custody and had gone to Dehra Dun to appear in the court. He and his supporters tried to physically resist the police bid and in the process the leader even manhandled the Senior SP of Patna. Finally, the police had their way and Anand Mohan was taken into custody.

Earlier, relaxing at a hotel, the leader told the media saying he was scheduled to board a night train to Saharsa. He apprehended a threat to his life if he was taken to Saharsa by road.

Home Commissioner Afzal Amanullah said a case has been lodged against the six-member police team escorting the leader to Dehra Dun for dereliction of duty. He said a new case will also be lodged against the former MP for disappearing from judicial custody and misbehaving with the police.
