
CHANDIGARH, April 5: Vidya Stokes, president of Indian Women8217;s Hockey Federation today announced the women8217;s hockey team for participation in the four-nation international hockey tournament being held in Australia from April 28.
Stokes said the final selection trials were held at NIS Patiala yesterday. The team will leave for Australia on April 26 from Delhi.
The team: Pritam Rani Thakran captain , Helen Mary, Tingutiems Channu, Amandeep Kaur, Mary Stella Tirkey, Sunita Dalal, Sita Gussain, Saroj Lata Devi, Neha Singh, Maninder Kaur, Kamla Dalal, Jyoti Kullu, Sandeep Kaur, Sumural Tete, Pakey Devi, Laxmi Shree, Kanti and G S Ghangu chief coash.
Stokes said the teams from Australia, South Africa, Korea and India will participate in the four-national meet.
All set for Nat water regatta
Dharamshala: Decks are cleared for the fourth National Invitational Water Regatta scheduled from tomorrow at Maharana Partap Sagar in Kangra district.
As many as 21 teams consisting of 250 prticipants from Rajasthan, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Orissa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh will participate in the regatta.
This regatta would provide an unique opportunity to the water sports lovers to enjoy thrilling water sport events in the foothills of Dhauladhar, in the sub-Himalayan region.
Land to land channel crossing, swimming free style and breast stroke 100 mts, kaykaying, country boat race and water skiing events will be the main attraction of the regatta.
The Maharana Partap Sagar, the venue of proposed national event is located on the border of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. It is a man-made lake ideally suitable for the water sports and allied activities.
The lake is about 30 km long and five km wide and is easily approachable from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Governor V S Rama Devi will preside over the inaugural function. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal will grace the concluding function.
