Cast: Ed Speelers, Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Robert Carlyle
Director: Stefen Fangmeier
1. Are special effects sufficient to save a film Fangmeier was the visual effects supervisor of Lemony Snicket8217;s, Master and Commander8230; Signs? Eragon could have been The Lord of the Rings, instead it8217;s a not-too-great videogame.
2. Can blond good looks and a fetching smile hide a bad performance? All Speelers can hope for after his Eragon take is a tooth paste commercial.
3. Why cast Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Robert Carlyle as sidekicks, and then leave them without the fig leaf of even one good line? Djimon Hounsou perhaps hopes people hadn8217;t seen Blood Diamond before.
4. And why waste Rachel Weisz as just the voice of the dragon, though she is the only graceful thing in the film?
5. If your film is based on just the first book in a trilogy 8212; with the third yet to be written 8212; you can end it with the cruel King, a guy called Galbatorix, still in power and Eragon yet to get over his boyish grin only if you have in your pocket The Lord of the Rings. What you have is a poor, very poor cousin
6. Think long and hard before Eragon 2.
