
VADODARA, June 8: The Disaster Prevention and Management Centre, the Ankleshwar Industries8217; Association and the Ankleshwar Environmental Preservation Society jointly organised a programme and a seminar in Ankleshwar to mark the World Environment Day on June 5.
Environment experts and top executives of various industries took part and reiterated their determination to protect and promote the environment, a release said. While detailing various measures to save the environment, they also stressed the need for environment preservation at the micro level. The speakers included top executives from industrial giants including R P Desai, Dr C B Upasani, S Mohanty, P G Vinod, N K Navadia, D A Anandpurak Udani and R M Sharma. Senior official from Gujarat Pollution Control Board R C Tamboli was also present.
Winners of different contests, held to mark the celebrations, were also felicitated on the occasion. Among the medium and large-scale industries, the most environment-friendly winners included Hoechest, GIL, Glaxo and Novartis, while the small-scale industries included Abbot Labs, Cordkem Pharma and Subhasti Pigments.
Likewise, Champa Patel of Sardar Patel Society, Kama Rathi of Alkapuri Society and Urmila Patel of Sardar Patel Society were adjudged the winners from among township colonies, and Anita Malhotra, Pushpa Mohanlal and Daksha Patel from smaller residential colonies.
Centre chief co-ordinator K Srivastsan welcomed the guests, while A K Mehta proposed the vote of thanks.
