Engineer murder: BSP MLA confesses to involvement

Uttar Pradesh's ruling BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari, now in police custody, has confessed to his involvement in the killing of PWD executive engineer M K Gupta in Auraiya district, a senior police official claimed.

Uttar Pradesh8217;s ruling BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari, now in police custody, has confessed to his involvement in the killing of PWD executive engineer M K Gupta in Auraiya district, a senior police official claimed on Friday.

8220;The MLA has confessed to his involvement in the murder of the PWD engineer in Auraiya district during interrogation in the police remand8221;, Addtional Director General Law and Order Brijlal said.

Brijlal said prima facie investigations have revealed the involvement of the MLA8217;s wife and district panchayat president Vibha Tiwari in destroying evidence in the case.

He said a notice had been served to her to record her statement in the case. However, 8220;she is still not traceable and we are looking for her8221;, the ADGP said

The BSP MLA and his supporters allegedly lynched engineer Gupta after he reportedly refused to pay a huge sum to him for the birthday celebrations of Chief Minister Mayawati.
