NEW DELHI, September 22: Delhi Public School (Vasant Kunj) scored a 5-0 victory over hosts Francis De Sales School in the Fr Peter Mermier memorial invitational football tournament here today.
Arkashish, Shantanu Dutta, Siddharth, Shrikant and Adhiraj scored a goal ecah for the winners while the hosts could not make any inroads into the opponent’s goal-area.
In a pool A match, St John’s School defeated St Columba’s 2-0. Bappi and Palous scored a goal ecah.
In pool B, CRPF (Rohini) defeated DPS (RK Puram) 2-1. Divyanshu and Ashish scored a goal each for the winners while Sachin Sharma pulled one back in the second half for the RK Puram team. In another match in the same pool, Don Bosco beat Mount St Mary’s School by a solitary goal scored by Binoy Mathew in the first half. This was Don Bosco’s second win in successive matches.

It was target-practice for Bishop Conard Public School, Bareilly, against Rajni Public School, Bulandshar, in the opening match of Central Board of Secondary Education East Zone (cluster three) football tournament at Dayawati Modi Public School, Modinagar. The Bareilly team won 11-2.
In another first-round match, Dehra Dun Public School defeated St John’s Senior Secondary School, Meerut 5-4. In other matches played today, St Amtul Public School (Nainital) downed DPS (Noida) 3-1 while Maharishi Vidya Mandir (Modinagar) beat Brahmanand Public School (Noida) 1-0 and Greenwood Senior Secondary School (Rampur) scored a 6-1 win over Dayawati Dharamvira Public School (Bijnor).
As many as 47 schools affiliated to CBSE are participating in the seven-day tournament which was inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Shadre, C O, Modinagar.
