
The election authorities have decided to lodge an FIR against BJP leader and Revenue Minister Brijmohan Agrawal after the Congress released a compact disc purportedly containing visuals of him distributing money during a poll campaign.
8220;I have seen the CD on television. Appropriate action will be taken as per the provisions of the law,8221; state Chief Electoral Officer Alok Shukla said on Wednesday evening at a press briefing on the arrangements being made to conduct the second and last phase of polling in 51 constituencies on Thursday. Asked to elaborate, Shukla said, 8220;Directives have been issued to lodge an FIR in the matter.8221;
Earlier, state Youth Congress president Yogesh Tiwari, who is pitted against Agrawal from Raipur South, released the CD, claiming that it contained visuals of the BJP candidate distributing money during campaigning. Despite many attempts, Agrawal could not be contacted.
