NEW DELHI: NATIONAL Thermal Power Corporation NTPC today said Delhi Vidyut Board DVB had not responded to last weeks8217; notice for disconnection of power supply to Delhi from June 1 following default of outstanding payment of over Rs 2,000 crore.

quot;I have written to DVB two days ago for the second time seeking a two year time repayment schedule to clear NTPC8217;s dues of about Rs 2,000 crore, but they have not yet responded, quot; corporation chairman and managing director Rajendra Singh told PTI here.

NTPC would be forced to quot;regulatequot; discontinue power supply to the state if they fail to mention the time frame of clearing the dues in two years, Singh said adding that ntpc had rejected DVB8217;s proposal of February to clear its dues over a nine year period with a monthly payment of Rs 20 crore. When contacted, Delhi power minister Narendera Nath said that he had already advised Delhi chief secretary Omesh Sehgal to respond to NTPC accordingly and added that government could also seek court intervention toprevent NTPC from stopping power supply. However, Nath clarified that Delhi government was not in a position to change earlier proposal envisaging a nine year time-frame for clearing dues. DVB8217;s proposal was not acceptable as the long payment schedule would affect NTPC8217;s investment plans, Singh said.
