DU launches IT course for disabled students

Disabled students at Delhi University can now learn IT skills at the new Information and Communication Technology Centre set up jointly by the NTPC Foundation and Delhi University.

Disabled students at Delhi University can now learn IT skills at the new Information and Communication Technology Centre set up jointly by the NTPC Foundation and Delhi University. The centre was inaugurated Monday by NTPC8217;s Chief Managing Director R S Sharma and DU8217;s Pro Vice-Chancellor S K Tandon. There are about 1,000 physically-challenged students currently enrolled at the DU. Students will be awarded a diploma and a certificate under the short term course scheme of DU. The centre has cost the NTPC about Rs 30 lakh. The centre is equipped with software with screen magnification software for students suffering from low vision, officials said. The university will be responsible for designing the courses for the students while NTPC Foundation will fund the infrastructure and recurring costs, including teachers8217; expenses and maintenance.
