
CHANDIGARH, JUNE 11: In a case of dowry registered here on May 14, the husband of the complainant Sunita Arora was remanded to judicial custody till June 24.
The case was taken up before Duty Magistrate Jasbir Singh on June 6 and he had remanded the complainant8217;s husband, Gopal Krishan, her father-in-law, Shiv Dayal, and brothers-in-law, Sanjiv Arora and Tilak Arora, to police custody till June 8.
On June 8, while the police remand of Gopal was extended till June 10, the rest had been sent to judicial custody by ACJM H. S. Madaan. On June 10, Gopal was also sent to judicial custody. The women involved in the case, Janak Arora, Rajni Arora and Anju Arora, have been bailed out. The bail applications of rest of the accused will be taken up by ACJM on June 14. In her complaint, Sunita Arora had alleged that she was married to Gopal, who belonged to Delhi, on December 8, 1993, and stated that she had been cheated by her in-laws.
It was stated that while she was told her husband had taken a B.Com degree and was working, she found that he had not even completed his senior secondary. She also alleged that she was continuously being harassed for dowry. The accused were held in Delhi and produced here in the court on June 6.
