Sourav Ganguly rubbished concerns about his elbow injury and asserted that he would be fit for the third Test. With more than a week to go for the Delhi Test, Ganguly returned home this evening to spend time with his family.

Ganguly had jarred his left elbow while batting in the second innings at Mohali. The MRI report, however, revealed just a little swelling.

8220;I will play in the third Test. This is just a minor thing 8212; a bit of tendinitis. There8217;s nothing to worry about,8221; Ganguly said after his arrival. His wife Dona concurred. 8220;There8217;s a few days8217; gap before the third Test, so he has decided to come home. He will be here for four-five days,8221; she said.

The southpaw was carrying a trophy given to him for playing his last Test in Mohali after India trounced Australia by 320 runs.

Meanwhile, the Bengal cricket fraternity feels that Ganguly should reconsider his decision to quit international cricket after the ongoing series against Australia.

8220;I, on behalf of the CAB request him to reconsider his decision as we feel he still has a couple of years of cricket left in him,8221; CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya said.

Bengal chief selector Sambaran Banerjee said that the Mohali ton on a 8220;difficult wicket speaks volumes for his mental strength8221;. He, however, doubted that Ganguly would change his decision.

In Mohali, Zaheer Khan was fined 80 per cent of his match fee for violating the ICC Code of Conduct by shouting at Australian opener Matthew Hayden after his dismissal on the fourth day of the second cricket Test here.

Zaheer was found guilty of Level two charge under the ICC Code of Conduct which states that players 8220;shall at all times conduct play within the spirit of the game as well as within the Laws of Cricket.8221;

Zaheer pleaded guilty in a hearing conducted by match referee Chris Broad, the umpires and India coach Gary Kirsten.

After Hayden was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh, Khan ran from towards the outgoing batsman, then circling and shouting at him in an aggressive manner.

8220;Clearly, this sort of behaviour is not acceptable at any level of cricket 8212; it showed a lack of respect for the player who had been dismissed,8221; said Broad.

8220;However, in considering the penalty, I took into account the fact that Zaheer had a good disciplinary record. He also pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and was very apologetic while also promising not to repeat the offence,8221; Broad added.
