NAGPUR, May 30: The Maharashtra Government is setting up a software technology park at Sadar with the help of Software Technology Parks of India, an autonomous body under the Union Government8217;s Department of Electronics DoE.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Thursday, Guardian Minister for Nagpur Nitin Gadkari said that the park would provide the superstructure to facilitate software export, like connectivity and single window clearances for exporters etc.

The park, which will become operational within the next couple of months, is the second of its kind in the State after Pune. Another such park would set up shortly at New Mumbai, the minister informed.

Gadkari claimed that the city would gain a software export capacity to a tune of at least Rs 50 crore per year and it would be able to increase its turnover by Rs 500 crore within the next two-three years.

Gadkari said that if the proposed park was successful, such parks would also be set up in other districts of the region shortly. Thepark would encourage local talents so that software engineers of the region get jobs in their area itself.

The government has earmarked approximately 7,500 sq mt of land for the project. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation MIDC will renovate, construct and maintain the software park. Of the total available land, about 5,000 sq metre is being developed.

So far, a building with a floor area of 1000 sq mt to accommodate the units and the main office of the park is ready. The MIDC has already sanctioned Rs 95 lakh for the renovation of the existing building. Also, an additional building for the software park will be constructed on the vacant land soon.

The space will be provided to the exporters on a rental basis. These exporting units will be monitors by the software technology park here for the fulfillment of their export obligations.

Initially, the park will provide connectivity by way of 64 KBPS shared link with the collaboration of Department of Telecommunication and atelecommunications8217; tower will be erected in the premises of the park. The 64 KBPS link is designed to serve 6 to 7 software exporters.

Gadkari claimed that a flow of enquiries has already begun from domestic and foreign companies.
