Doctors quit en masse

NAGPUR, Aug 18: Doctors of Nagrik Sahakari Rugnalaya, the only public hospital run on a cooperative basis in the State, tendered their resignations en masse on Saturday. They were protesting against the alleged indecent, disgraceful and rowdy8217; behaviour of Adv Prabodh Sadavarte, the chairman of the hospital managing committee. In a signed statement, the doctors said they had decided to press for the immediate removal of Sadavarte from the post of Chairman. The hospital, started about two decades back, has been in the news because of disputes between various factions, all trying to gain control of the managing committee. But it had never affected the working of the hospital. However, ever since the new body was elected with Sadavarte as its chairman, relations between the doctors and the chairman have hit rock bottom. Several senior doctors working at the hospital as consultants, have alleged that the chairman insulted many of them.
