BHUBANESWAR, Oct 29: Resentment within the Biju Janata Dal BJD following the shake-up in the party organisation by president Naveen Patnaik came to the fore today with one of the district presidents declining to take up the post.
Aswini Samal, who earlier was president of the undivided Cuttack district unit of BJD and chosen to head the Cuttack city unit now, wrote a letter to the party chief yesterday declining to accept the post.
Pointing out that Cuttack city was one of the 10 Assembly constituencies of the Cuttack district which he headed earlier, Samal said he was not in a position to accept the offer.
Copies of the letter were made available to the Press here today.
The BJD leader said he was shocked and surprised over the reorganisation of the party and said, 8220;You the President have not given much time to think over the matter before putting your seal of approval to the list prepared by your advisors8221;.
Reminding Patnaik that he had been president of the present and the previousundivided Cuttack district of the Janata Dal during Biju Patnaik8217;s time and continued as such after the BJD was formed, Samal said his consent should have been obtained before a decision was taken in the matter.
