DGCA seeks Boeing help

MUMBAI, July 7: The Director General of Civil Aviation DGCA has sought Boeing Company8217;s assistance to carry out a safety audit8217; of Jet Airways fleet of Boeing aircraft.

8220;We have asked them to carry out an audit of the auto throttle system, which is an optional one for the cockpit crew and not mandatory,8221; DGCA sources said.

8220;There is no cause for alarm or scare and it is only a safety precaution being taken in view of the incident at Mumbai airport last month when the commander aborted a flight while on the take-off run,8221; the sources reiterated.

Jet Airways said the audit8217; has not affected flights, and they continue to operate with their fleet of 18 aircraft, while one aircraft is grounded.
