This is as much a political turbulence as infrastructural. Mayawati8217;s determined bid to get her dream international airport at Agra off the ground has got aviation majors in a spin. The private developers of Delhi airport clearly don8217;t fancy the idea of this hub coming up and diverting traffic from Delhi. Any sop8212;like the first right of refusal8212;is apparently not enough to offset the 8220;losses8221; which these developers are forecasting as a result of another airport coming up close to Indira Gandhi International. Result: heavy artillery is being moved to lobby the circles concerned on the economic impact the new hub may have on the fortunes of a restructured Delhi airport. But Mayawati has been promised that all clearances from the Centre will be approved in 90 days, of which 30 days have already passed. She sent out warning signals last week. A nervous Centre is waiting and watching warily.
