November 2: Suburban and long distance services of the Central Railway CR were disrupted on Saturday night following a goods train derailment near Kurla station. Nobody was injured in the mishap which took place at about 10.20 pm.

Spokesperson for the CR said the derailment took place when the train was negotiating a curve near Kurla. Diwali revellers who were on their way back were stranded for more than two hours at various stations. While the CR could not operate its late night trains on schedule, the local services were operated between CST and Vidyavihar and also between Ghatkopar, Kalyan and Karjat, railway officials informed.

A railway spokesman said though trains starting from the kurla terminus were not affected, but other long-distance trains starting from Dadar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus were delayed by two to three hours.
