
NEW DELHI, February 8: Five of the 12 basketball referees, who appeared in the recent Asian Basketball Confederation ABC examination to supervise international matches, made the grade according to a communication to Basketball Federation of India general secretary J.P. Mishra here today.
They five qualified referees are: Naresh Aneja Delhi, Milan Das Gupta Uttar Pradesh, Bhuta Ram Sahota Punjab, B. Venkatesh Maharashtra and Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh Gujarat.
All these referees, who had conducted several games within India, have now qualified to appear in all international matches in the country as well as abroad. The ABC, which conducted a three-day seminar and clinics for referees under the aegis of BFI in the Capital, had assigned two experts Tom McCarthy and Lubomin Kotleba to do the job.
