
Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory Chandigarh were put on maximum alert in the wake of multiple explosions that rocked Delhi on Saturday evening.
Police sources said intensive checking of vehicles had been started in Gurgaon, Faridabad and other towns of Haryana bordering Delhi.
Security had been beefed up at key public places including inter-state bus terminuses, railway stations and other sensitive places in the two states and the UT, official sources said. Punjab was also on full alert and security had been tightened in the state.
The Uttar Pradesh government also issued a high alert throughout the state following serial blasts in Delhi. ADG law and order, Brij Lal said the high alert has been sounded throughout Uttar Pradesh and respective police authorities asked to maintain vigil.
A high alert was also sounded across Rajasthan and police has been asked to keep strict vigil at sensitive areas, state home secretary, S N Thanvi told PTI over phone.
Police has been deployed at all important monuments, temples, railway stations, bus stands and crowded markets and they have been asked to monitor strangers, Thanvi said.
