PUNE, Aug 19: Twin centuries in an innings is today not as uncommon an event. However, absolutely identical twin centuries 8212; that is another matter altogether. An incident of the rarest magnitude that anchored Deccan Gymkhana to a victory by an innings and four runs over Deodhar XI in their match of the MCA under-19 Junior Invitation Cricket League here today.

Both Laghate and Awate stroked their way to a brilliant 114 apiece to enable a Deccan Gymkhana first innings declaration at 231 for five. The batsmen8217;s twin efforts laid to waste the work done by rival bowler Godse, who bagged three wickets while conceding only six runs.

This proved to be a tall calling for Deodhar XI, who could not first escape a follow-on 8212; going out at 129 for nine in the first innings 8212; and then came back to the crease for their second essay, only to be dismissed at 147 all out.

Agrani Bhosale 2/13, Makrand Chavan 2/10 and Kiran Adhav 2/21 shared the spoils for Deccan Gymkhana in the second innings, while Ketan Tamhankar was the top scorer for Deccan XI at 56.
